Basic Editing Techniques
1.Rotate / Straighten your image
2. Remove dust marks or unwanted items
3. Edit the contrast / color correction
4. Sharpen if nescessary
5. Crop

Dodging and Burning
Basics
1.Dodging makes things lighter
2. Burning makes things darker
You must change the default settings in Photoshop. Good editing takes time, there is no magic solution. I would recomend working in the 1-5% range with your dodging / burning tools
