Reactions
Problem Statement:
Create a photograph that instantly makes your viewer react. Your goal is to have your viewer feel something instantly. You can create any emotion of your choosing. However, you cannot do a peaceful or tranquil as an emotion as they are not solid reactions.
Problem Specifications:
1. Can only be one photograph
2. The goal for your photo is to create an immediate reaction from the viewer
Brainstorming: Sketchbook
1. Create a 2 Page spread (can see both pages at the same time) with 4 relatively equal sections.
2. In 1 section, create a list of at least 20 different emotions.
- Curate your list to 3 words that you want to work from, alter the words to make them the most extreme version possible
3. In each section,
a. label with each emotion that you selected.
b. Answer: What do you want your audience to feel when they look at your artwork?
c. Make a list of 3 of the most intense reactions / feelings that you can imagine based on your emotion / answer.
d. Draw 2 thumbnail sketches for each section on 2 different concepts (6 total). Label every thumbnail on the outside with photographer choices.
Reactions Post Processing
Contact Sheet (50 Points)
1. Create a new page on your website titled "reactions"
2. Upload your 12 photographs to your page in a masonry pro gallery.
- be sure that your images are clickable and there is an identifiable title with each image.
3. On your page, answer the following:
- what reaction are you going for?
- How did you utilize exaggeration or other photo techniques to provoke a reaction from your viewer?
4. Publish your page.
