Creating unique photographs of everyday objects / scenes

Problem Statment:

I will take ordinary, everyday scenes and transform them into  into an extraordinary photograph. I will do this by utilizing the principles of composition from class (Link to principles of composition).

Problem Statement
Day 1

Requirments / Considerations

Task:

1. FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS

2. Think about the lighting. Shoot in an area with strong lighting. Indoor shots are very difficult to do because you need a lot more light. Do not shoot at noon. Think about shooting during the early morning or later in the afternoon.

3. Your subject should be something that is an everyday object / scene. It must be large enough for you to be able to compose your image. Earrings, watches, fruit etc. tend to be hard to photograph because of the lenses that we use. People also make great subjects, but be sure to use the principles to make it work.

3. Do not go below 125 on your shutter speed, you can use 60 if you position your camera on a steady surface or use a wall / solid object to brace yourself

4. Bracket your exposures. 3 different light settings for the same composition. 1 over exposed, 1 under and 1 normal. 1 aperture click above or 1 shutter speed is plenty.

5. Do not open your camera to take film out until we do so in class together.

6. Shoot the entire roll (36 exposures) - 24 need to be on the assignment - The other 12 can be on whatever you want.

7. Shoot at least 6 different principles of composition (this will be graded).

8. Do not roll your film back up on your own.

Bad Example: Finding an extraordinary object and taking a photo of it.

- Be aware of how you are holding your camera (change vertical to horizontal). Also make sure you are holding your camera straight
